Burdock (Arctium Lappa)

Burdock root has been eaten by the Japanese for over a thousand years, where it most likely arrived from China between 794-1185. If you have eaten sushi, you have most likely eaten burdock root! It is called gobo or Yamagobo in Japanese. Even with all the harsh radiation the Japanese people were exposed to as a result of WWII, they still remain as one of the longest living people in the world. Burdock is a liver and kidney cleanser, helping to remove heavy metals and waste from the body. It also assists the body in fighting throat infections, boils, and chronic skin conditions. Fun fact about Burdock: George de Mestral was a Swiss electrical engineer who greatly enjoyed hunting. When hunting, he found the burdock burrs that were constantly attached to his clothing and his dogs fur quite intriguing. In 1941, he was able to copy the burdock burrs in plastic and created what we now know as velcro!

We have it available as a tincture and a glycerite! After our first frost, the roots will be available for U-pick.
